The book is called "Opportunity".
And the first chapter is New Year's Day.

The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand,

But because of the ones who would care;
Its living & doing for somebody else;
On that all of life's splendor depends;
And the joy of it all, when we count it all up;
Is found in the making of friends.

Too often we don't realize
What we have until it is gone
Too often we wait till too late to say "I'm sorry - I was wrong."
Sometimes it seems we hurt the ones
We hold dearest to our hearts
And we allow foolish things
To tear our lives apart.
Far too many times we let
Unimportant things into our minds
And then when it's usually too late
To see what made us blind.
So be sure that you let people know
How much thay mean to you
Take that time to say the words
Before your time is through.
Be sure you appreciate
Everything you've got
And be thankful for the little things
In life that means a lot.

A good friend is someone we can count on, as well as being so much more.
A friend is someone with whom we can relax & hang out, have fun & share innermost thoughts-deep dark secrets, lofty & noble goals, or our hopes, joys & fears.
A good friend allows you a safe space to share your deepest thoughts & needs-without worry of being judged, criticized or made to feel silly for feeling the way you do.
Friends cheer each other on, laugh & cry together, & just plain commiserate & listen to each other.
That' why friends are friends.

Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking.
It is not easily angered, it keeps no records of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always preserves.
Love never fails.

Don't find love,
Let love find you.
That's why it's called falling in love,
Because you don't force yourself to fall,
You just fall.
